In March 1921 Dr J H L Cumpston, the Director of Quarantine, was appointed to the new position of the Director General of Health and Director of Quarantine, which resulted in the transfer of quarantine staff in Customs to the Department of Health (Albury Banner and Wodonga Express, 25 March 1921, 27).
